A New GradySpeaks

As you’ll notice, everything GradySpeaks looks different this morning. Over the past two days, I’ve been tooling around and remixing and doing various other things to make the site cleaner, faster, and easier to use. Overall, The site is now twice as fast as before, compatible with every browser, and it just works better. In the coming week, I’ll be liveblogging the Lock-In (see post below, team members), creating resources for parents, and generating more and more accounts (powered by Google).

Hope you like the new site,

Welcome back!

Sorry about the delay. Now, your user experience is better than before. Everything should be faster, the design is fresh, and now, you can use your Google accounts, the filebase is available for you policy kids to use, and the wiki is cleared for use. But that’s not all. There are some other things as well that are coming down the pipe, and this will be the example for debate teams everywhere.

Looking towards the future,

Georgia Forensics Daily Troubles

So, on Monday, the 13th, the new Georgia Forensics Daily was due to appear. A couple of things happened as I was taking the final steps for it.

  1. The style/theme (CSS) being used broke.
  2. The database that’s used to run every post and all other content failed as well, causing me to go to a backup.
  3. Our web host was experiencing various network/server balancing issues, causing performance to be slow overall.

The confluence of these three things, along with my issues (I can’t stand the University System of Georgia), made for an interesting three days.

So I personally want to apologise to all of you for the unintentional delay in the project. I am working, and our host is
working to solve the problem in the fastest manner possible. For any future issues, check this page: GradySpeaks Support. It has the latest updates on the status of the servers that make Georgia Forensics and GradySpeaks run.

Wishing myself luck,

Brandon Sheats

GA Forensics Daily | Forums Open!

Last night, there was a breakthrough.

I finished a beta version of the forums. It’s available at forum.gaforensics.com.

You’ll need to have a forum account for something else that we’re cooking up, and will be released soon. Jeff has moved the GA case discussion from Cross-X to the new forums, and you can upload your camp cases and other files as well. Pretty soon, I’ll be starting up the discussion on the first LD topic of the year, hoping that it’s good.

Thanks for bearing with me. The new GA Forensics will be available soon and we look forward to providing you the source for GA speech and debate news.

P.S. We’re still looking for people!
