Event Details
Watch as two of the nation’s best debaters engage in the final showdown of the 2008 election season!
The award-winning Grady High School Speech and Debate team will host a mock Presidential Debate on October 28 at 7:30pm in the Main Theatre on the Grady High School campus. Two of Georgia’s top high school debaters, seniors Michael Robinson and Demarius Walker, will portray the presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama, respectively, in a debate moderated by members of the press and The Barkley Forum at Emory University. Topics will include the economy, healthcare, the War in Iraq, foreign policy, education and the Supreme Court. Additionally, questions will be taken from Grady students and members of the audience in a Town Hall-style debate.
There is no charge for admission, but we will be hosting a dinner beforehand for $12/person.

The Speech and Debate team is hosting this event primarily to inform students and the community-at-large of issues facing the United States as they head to the polls in this historic presidential election. Audience members will be asked to pledge to vote in the November 4th election.
As this debate is being conducted as a fundraiser for the Speech and Debate team, audience members will be able to “vote” for who they feel won the debate by voting with their dollars to the candidate’s ballot box. All monies raised will be used for competition tournaments for the team.
A chili dinner will be offered at 6:00pm in the Grady High School cafeteria. Tickets may be purchased online at GradySpeaks Connect. The cost is $12.00 a person.
