Barkley Forum Information

This weekend we will be attending The Barkley Forum. The tournament is quite different from other Georgia tournaments, so I want to make sure details are known. Student attending include: Stephanie Styles, Tyler Olson, Emily Atkinson, Scott Bremer, Matt Ward, Taylor Walker, Hannah Snowden, Hannah Mitchell, James Holland, John Holland, Michael Barlow, Erin Dabbs, Kaylin Morton, JP Patterson, Grayson Blake, Lucas Bailey and Mike Robinson. This is a TWO DAY tournament (at miminum), meaning students will need to get to the tournament on Friday. WE WILL NEED PARENTS FOR DROP-OFF AND PICK UP!! Here is a break-down of event locations: Policy Debate will be held at Georgia State. Public Forum will be held at Druid Hills HS. All IE’s, Duo, Congress and LD will be on the Emory University Campus. Here are directions to the BF, Georgia State parking instructions and the parking letter and pass for Emory University. I realize, as we head into a New Year, I have yet to post the results from the Isidore Newman tournament! Here ya go:

Mike Robinson and Lucas Bailey- Champions, Public Forum

Hannah Mitchell- 5th place, Oral Interp; Champion, Dramatic Interp

Taylor Walker- 2nd place, Dramatic Interp

Wesley Powell- 5th place, Humorous Interp; tie for 3rd, Dramatic Interp

Matt Ward- 6th place, Dramatic Interp; 3rd place, Humorous Interp

Overall, tied for 3rd place Speech Sweepstakes with Hattiesburg HS, MS.

It was great seeing old friends from around the South. And to Jay Rye of Montgomery Academy… we look forward to the Birmingham Nationals!

A special thanks to Jim Campbell, Terry Boling, Ramika Gourdine, Matt Johnson, and, of course, Brandon Sheats for going along with us. It was a GREAT trip!

The Peach has never been sweeter...

Hello to all! This weekend, we will be attending the largest speech and debate invitational in Georgia. Carrollton High School/Carrollton Middle School will co-host the Peach State Classic this Friday and Saturday, November 21-22, 2008. We are taking 86 students to the tournament! Policy debaters will leave from Grady HS at 2:30pm on Friday. Those students in Dramatic Interp, Humorous Interp, Duo Interp, Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, Impromptu, Prose/Poetry, Lincoln-Douglas Debate and Public Forum Debate will leave from the Eighth Street parking lot at 6:30am. Students should arrive at 6:15am. Cost is $10.00. This information is also on the parent permission forms. If you child is in policy debate, then you want download the permission form by clicking here. If your child is any other event, click here for that permission form. Let’s go get ‘em!

As 82 of us head to the Fayette County Classic Speech and Debate Tournament, I wanted to thank all parents and alum who agreed to judge this weekend!
